Lochs, forests, mountains

We went first to the woods by Loch Garten (first extra) and Loch Mallachie (the blip). I love this place. Then we popped into the osprey centre to pay our respects to EJ before heading south to Cairngorm. In a moment of madness we parked up at the base station and got tickets to ride on the funicular railway which goes almost to the summit. We ate a hearty meal in the restaurant (not as pricey as one might expect in the circumstances) and admired the view for long enough to gain a light suntan. It was a little hazy but in the second extra the very, very faint peak in the centre distance is probably Ben Nevis, approx 70 miles away. Descending was even more exciting than ascending - wish I'd got a photo.....After we'd returned to the base station we went for a short walkabout before returning to the B & B where we had a very quiet evening with a box of salad each and a bottle of wine.
