Arbroath Abbey

Drove down to Crieff this morning to see D's dad who is quite poorly again.
We decided to come back on the coast road for a change and stopped in Arbroath to have a quick look at the Abbey. I'd never been there before but the site is owned by Heritage Scotland and is well layed out with a heritage centre, audiovisual displays and a wee cafe. The Abbey is famous as the place where the Declaration of Arbroath was written - a 14th C letter written to the Pope asking for Scottish Independence. I guess things haven't changed too much over the years.
