Irene

Twenty years ago, D and I moved here from near Aberdeen. We had two young children, one who was old enough to go to the local school, and one who joined the local playgroup and PreSchool Centre. Most  of the new friends I made in those early days were other mums. We would drop off our children and then go to each other's houses for coffee. We shared transport, and tips on everything from how to feed a fussy child to how to rear hens. We shared happy and sad times. We saw in the Millennium. Our children went to different schools and grew up and left school. Some of us stayed in touch and others didn't.

Today we all met up again for a belated celebration of the 70th birthday of Irene, who had been the Manager of Dunscore PreSchool Centre all those years ago. Irene was (and still is) a legend. All our children loved her, and as she is saying in her speech above, she loved them as well.

Thank you, Irene!
