World Bonsai Day, 2017

Today was World Bonsai Day.  Here, in North Florida, we celebrated the day at the D&L Nursery.  I volunteered to work the whole day signing people in, selling the above T shirts, and raffle tickets.  We were expecting between 180-200 people but we had rain, all day, from 9:30 till 5:30 (very heavy at times) when we packed up, cleaned up and took accounting.
By the end of the demonstrations and all the raffles, we had between 100-135 die-heart enthusiasts  enjoying the lunch provided by David and Linda Vanbuskirk, demonstrations were lead by several prominent bonsai leaders in the North and Central area of Florida, homemade deserts, salads, chill, and baked beans.
The proceeds from the raffle were donated to the Marion County Horse Rescue.  The patrons enjoyed themselves, laughed, and talked bonsai, learned things, and shared a common joy in plants.  It was a wonderful day, even in the rain!
