New dog, new tricks

We have stairs up to the bedrooms and down to the cellar, both currently have stair gates to prevent Jake charging along with crazy puppy speed and hurting himself.
Consequently, after four months of not being allowed on the stairs, he's become leery of going up or down when encouraged to do so.
This has now changed. I tempted him with a trail of dog food and now everytime I go down into the cellar he follows me - probably expecting more food!
