Formerly the Leuvehaven was a creek with little significance. In 1594 the States of Holland and West Friesland gave permission to enlarge this little creek. The dredging of the Leuvehaven was done with a horse mill and the port was finished in 1608-09 . In the beginning there was talk of renaming it to Nieuwe Haven (New Harbor), but later it was decided that Leuvehaven was still the best name. The Leuvehaven is the oldest excavated harbor in Rotterdam.

Because of the historical writeup i decided that antique feel was just the right thing to do. Large.
