a tree limb

is a magpie - which is very unusual for them - typically they are flying around like mad birds - chasing other birds or critters trying to catch something for themselves - but this afternoon this lone magpie was busy checking out this tree - no idea what he was looking for because he didn't find it - no sooner did i snap this 1 shot than he was off the limb - flying away to check out another tree

so it's fortunate i was able to get this mostly in focus - posting had to be done as i usually don't get - to capture magpies often - so for that reason i'd say it's been...
