FLAGADA?

A right scorcher today  - 30°C. - the hydrangeas went all limp & this handsome wood pigeon flopped himself down in the corner of our "garden" & held his wings out as though to let some air into his sweaty armpits.

Do pigeons sweat? Don't think so...

Reminds me a bit of the way a cormorant stands on a rock holding his wings out to dry? Forgive me for appearing dim, but I really don't get the point -  at water level there'll be pretty near 100% humidity & his wet wings'll be full of salt & they're never going to dry! By the time the time the tide submerges his rock, he'll be back under water looking for a fish supper...

"Flagada"'s a pretty cool French word meaning limp, floppy or to put it politely - "buggered!"...
