A pick and mix day...

...including a couple of re-visits...
Firstly the Stones again, taking advantage of the good weather forecast to walk from Stenness, neb at the Ness of Brodgar where work will re-commence in July, and then approach the Ring of Brodgar from the other side (see extra).
Gave Stromness a second chance in the afternoon - a hunt for proper wool & Fairisle pattern my sister's choice, and a browse in the Pier Gallery Pam's. The gallery is excellent, despite the unpreposessing frontage, housing a permanent exhibition which includes Barbara Hepworth & Ben Nicholson's work, as well as two visiting artists. The Tea Rooms - up a little snicket off the main drag - is also a gem - so Stromness overachieved today ;)
A quirky pottery next ( "Harray Potter''), Kirkwall for a quick food top up, and the last of the day was a wander up the hill above us to Cuween Cairn and the stone circle above - constructed as cairns rather than standing stones, and in delicious light my main blip of the day.
Second extra is a "what is it?" nod to Abstract Thursday today - thanks Ingeborg!
