Sgwarnog: In the Field

Longhorn

Almost two years ago to the day I stumbled across one of these creatures for the first time. Today, in the same spot, makes a second. Take a bow, Golden-bloomed Grey Longhorn beetle, you are bug of the day.

I'd been working at home so just popped down to Spring Wood and Tong Park for a lunchtime walk.  In the sunny spells there were quite a few butterflies out: Large White, Small White, Green-veined White, Orange-tip, Peacock, Comma, Small Tortoiseshell, Speckled Wood and a single Brimstone making a healthy nine species. I also saw my first damselflies of the year, and heard my first Cuckoo.
