Icy blast

When I walked up Rapaki Track this morning I could see that snow had fallen on the track last night, but it did not lie.

However standing at the top of the track, in the strong, cold south westerly wind, I could look across Lyttelton Harbour to Banks Peninsula to see snow from last night's first icy blast for the winter.

There was a beautiful snowy scene on Mt Herbert (highest point on Banks Peninsula at  919 metres) and across other high parts of the Peninsula.

In extras, a closer look at Mt Herbert, Charteris Bay and Diamond Harbour.
