Life in Newburgh on Ythan

The Castle Canter

Today is Newburgh Gala Day and as tradition demands the heavens are fully open! Thankfully the tea and beer tents offer shelter and are doing a roaring trade!
The afternoon started with the 10th annual Castle Canter, a road race for all ages, to Knockhall Castle and back. The middle Talpid is a keen runner and managed to come second. The "extra" shows the start of the race (he is number 575)  while the main photograph shows him sprinting for the finish line.
The strange beasts that I blipped yesterday were sea-squirts, formally known as tunicate ascidians. Well done Mollyblobs and AJC!
