Quintisentially English

Today was part 2 of our East Devon Way, billed as 9.5 miles. We caught the bus as arranged, walked along the road to the start where we finished a couple of weeks ago and set off. A couple of showers, nothing too drastic and reached the village of Northleigh for our packed lunch where we all managed to get a seat in the church yard. Then, after lunch, we set off out of another gate from the church, the sky was black and after 45 minutes, a church tower came into view. It was none other than the one we had left 45 minutes earlier, we had done a complete circuit. We blamed the weather which had taken a turn for the worse and then got ourselves back on track. Our goal was to catch our return bus at 15.38 and we had about 10 minutes to spare and just as we had a short hail shower the bus turned up early. An enjoyable 11 mile walk despite the hiccup. I chose this photo as I liked the line of trees on the horizon.
