Ashdown House.

A day of bits and pieces...O left the house at 7.20 to accompany the scouts, Cubs and Beavers to Brownsea Island.

We had a few jobs to do around the house, then a trip to Ashdown House near Lambourn for a walk with Islay in the woods. It is a National Trust property and the house is only open on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. The grounds, however, are open all the time.

Although it is only a few miles away, we had never heard much about it, but thought it would be a nice place for a walk in the sunshine. It is very well maintained, and we had a lovely walk, listening to birdsong as we wandered along.

The house has a fascinating history ( but also has an interesting story about when it was up for lease)...

The lease was eventually bought by Pete Townshend of The Who.
