78 Derngate

I went to Northampton today. It was for quite a special reason.

I was meeting up with some friends from my old college days. Some of them I'd not seen for around 20 years! We all attended Nene College as it was in 1985 when we all started our undergraduate courses. It's now known as the University of Northampton.

We had a really great time. We had a lovely lunch in The Church Restaurant, and reminisced over our time in Northampton and shared stories of our lives since then. Lots of laughter and old photos were giggled over, and we even set a date to meet up again next year.

After lunch we drove up to the university campus to have a wander round as it was an Open Day. It would probably be the last time we could it as the campus is moving to a new site in the centre of town next year. It was rather strange being there after all this time, but we were pleased we did. One of the extras is of the campus looking at the man building flanked by halls of residence.

And to make the most of the time there I spent the morning at 78 Derngate. It's the only house in England designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. I'm a big fan of his work, so didn't want to miss the opportunity. The main photo is from the front door of the house, and one of the extras is the back.
