Ethiopian New Year

We were lucky enough to be invited to a new year's dinner by our landlord and landlady, who live across a small courtyard from us. As is traditional here, a sheep had been butchered on the property and cooked for the event. We were served all kinds of Ethiopian fare, injera, a thin pancake made of teff, doro wat, a hot chicken curry with boiled eggs, ribs, and kitfo, raw ground meat. After that was a coffee ceremony where coffee beans are roasted in front of you ground and then a strong coffee is made over a charcoal fire. I'm sure Anj will talk about this on her blog. It was a great experience!
