Brandon Mountain

We met up with friends, S and R, at Cloghane under Brandon Mountain, and went round to the south of Brandon Peak to leave the van. We then drove round to the Faha Grotto car park where the route from the east starts. The previous evening all the weather forecasts suggested that the day would start a bit cloudy, but dry, and then turn sunny. The other one, YR.NO, said it would be cloudy til evening with some light rain. Guess which one was correct? The path climbs the Faha Ridge before traversing in to the glen that contains the Paternoster or Coumaknock Loughs. By now it was a bit drizzly and atmospheric, but there were hints of brightness, so we remained optimistic. However we got to the summit still in the cloud, and it remained that way until we were well down towards the van. The extra shows the ridge on the way to Brandon Peak and it must have great views on a clear day. The blip is actually of Brandon Peak in the late afternoon as we went over to Dingle. By this time it was beginning to brighten and the hill looked great with  the crepuscular rays and mist. We’ll go back on a better day.
