Top of the pou ihi

The carving of Tiriwā sits at the top of the post at the entrance of the Arataki Visitor Centre in the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park.

Tiriwā is a great tūpuna (ancestor) of the Te Kawarau ā Maki, the tangata whenua of the Waitakere Ranges which are known as Te Wao Nui ā Tiriwā - The Great Forest of Tiriwā.
