Tortuous Stairs

B and I visited Oxburgh Hall today.  It's a moated house built around 1482 and for the past 500 years has been lived in by the Bedingfield  Family.
We decided to climb the tower to see the views from the roof, but these stairs had to be negotiated first.  They were fairly steep as you can see but happily not too many of them.
I was just amazed at the intricate brickwork needed in order to complete the twists and turns as the staircase winds it's way up.  There were no passing places if you met a fellow visitor going the opposite way, so there was a measure of shouting ahead needed in order to avoid this problem.
