Wetland history

This is the last survivor of the many thousand drainage wind pumps of the Cambridgeshire Fenlands. It was reconstructed and re-erected here in 1956.
280 mile motorway journeys need a break from the concentration and monotony and today we went to the National Trust reserve at Wicken Fen. A special place for dragonflies, damselflies and home made lemonade. We will be back.
