What are the Farmers Growing?

Driving down to Corvallis to pick up my grandson at college I saw several large fields with waves of white......I have never seen any crops like this before so I stopped to take a closer look. The plant looks like a weed with pretty little white flowers.......but why are there acres and acres of these planted? I have no idea.

So I am staying at my son's house while they are out of town....the 15year old has two friends spending the night and they are kind of going to sleep, but I hear a lot of giggling going on in there. The college student is not home yet....1:15AM now......I suppose I just go to sleep and don't worry, right? He will surely be here when I wake in the morning. So....Good Night.
