One of the remaining few

Until recent years, the Qurnawi people lived on the Qurna Mountain. Living amongst the Tombs of the Nobles and Deir El Medina (The village where the people that built the Valley of the Kings lived)

A massive relocation programme, resulted in the Qurnawi people being moved to a new village in 2010. The effects of this move are still very fresh in their minds and will continue to be shared throughout generations to come.

There are one or two people that have remained on the Mountain and this is one of them. He and his donkeys come down from the Mountain everyday, as the sun sets to get water. They carry a purpose built oil drum carriage, that will be filled and then be taken, up the hill to his home.

Before the people were moved, this was a regular sight throughout the day, now just this man.
