Early Morning Visitor

Early morning visitor to the garden today. Cute ? Yes. Welcome ? Well, errr, not exactly.
We’ve seen this deer a couple of times just lately out front, but never in the enclosed rear garden.  And that’s where the misgivings start.
He or she had no hesitation in seemingly having a taste for roses, hibiscus and anything with leaves.  Even our few raspberry bushes which were a gift last year and though came to nothing last year are  showing great promise this time.
Well, that was until this morning.  And to think we were worrying about how to protect them from birds when the fruit begins to form!
One thing, though, the deer did have an equal taste for the thistles we pulled out of the garden yesterday and which were still laying on the lawn.
He or she was well aware of my presence, the moment I pulled the curtains back, but seemed in no hurry to leave when there was so much foliage to be sampled. The animal must have got in by jumping a gate, but found more difficulty when it decided it was time to leave. It may have been by jumping the gate again, or choosing another gate I deliberately opened hoping it would entice him or her.

Whichever, we shall be on our guard to try to persuade the deer that although we welcome the photo opportunity, we are not so happy about the taste for anything growing.
