Scarlet Tanager

Our outing today was to the area around Lyme, Connecticut, with our friend Arn from from out bird club. He lived there for  a number of years, so he knows it well.  This tanager is a less bright red than some, but he sang and posed for several minutes. The extra is an eastern towhee, with a large insect (as yet unidentified).  It was a good day, but tiring. It's late, so I'll stop here and hope to add a bit more tomorrow. Last year's outing is here, a year ago--with two extras, one a snapping turtle laying eggs.
