corsica

A 2:45am alarm call so we could be in the taxi by 3 and away to Corsica. The children were amazing - too excited to be anything other than easygoing about the whole lack of sleep business. The airport was fun with Eve, she loved selecting breakfast for the 4 of us in a cafe and - what luxury - choosing a magazine for the flight. We arrived at lunchtime at a snazzy little holiday park, right on the sea with a beautiful pool, a bar and a takeaway pizza place. Simple and exactly what we need.

Seemingly very few brits visit this particular spot and so we're happily surrounded by wonderfully diverse European voices and the children receive puzzled looks when they try to talk to other children in the pool. The joy of kids is that they don't really care about being understood or understanding - they're happy just to play. We had to remove them from the pool with promises of ice cream when they started to look waterlogged/hypothermic.

We were all of us fast asleep by 9 (the children asked to go to bed at 7.15 but this was mainly so they could play like swinging monkeys on the bunk beds) and I slept for 13 hours. Hello holiday.
