Broadchurch (Tuesday 23rd May 2017)

David Tennant and Olivia Colman not pictured.

I had a birthday mini-blipmeet with my brother in Dorset on Tuesday. The problem with being out and about taking pictures for days in succession is that one comes back with piles of pictures so that only four days later am I in a position to post the blip.

We met at the Abbotsbury Swannery, which was saturated with breeding and non-breeding swans with dozens of newly born cygnets and eggs yet to hatch. I have posted as an Extra the view from our picnic site. We spent a couple of hours at the Swannery and saw a wren returning to its nest, some coots with their chicks, gulls, geese, shelducks, oystercatchers and a pair of wild black swans.

I of course wanted to visit the seaside, and as the Swannery lies behind Chesil Beach, which obscures the English Channel itself, when we left we drove on to nearby West Bay. Surprisingly, I had never been there before although I had seen it in the distance from the coast at Eype.

The sea at West Bay appears in the opening credits of The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin, when Reggie is seen running into the sea, but more recently of course it featured as the fictional village of Broadchurch in the TV series of the same name. I remember a scene in the final series where Detective Inspector Alec Hardy and Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller are standing on the jetty with the famous jurassic cliffs in the background, so after a wander through the village and a cappuccino from Sammii's we found the right spot and I took this blip (I had to resample it and the Extra for them not to be rejected as 'Invalid Dimensions' and the blip looks sharper in Large).

Orchestra/Nicholas Dodds - James Bond Theme (2006)
R.I.P. Roger Moore (14 October 1927, Stockwell, London - 23 May 2017, Crans-Montana, Switzerland)
Although this particular recording of John Barry's arrangement comes from 2006, his theme was used during both Sean Connery's and Roger Moore's times as James Bond.
