Diary of an Edinburgher

Holidays!

I must say, we've never had such a relaxed day before a holiday. Plenty of time to get cases organised, take Archie up the hill, then give him a bath and a haircut, in readiness for his holiday with Rufus and his mum.

JR also managed a gym session, but I couldn't be bothered decided that my holiday fitness training was as complete as it was going to be. Besides, a brisk no stopping walk up the steep side of Blackford Hill must be just as good as 20 minutes on the crosstrainer, stopping every 2 minutes.

Christine came in the afternoon to collect Archie and his holiday bag, and perchance to have a G&T. He's stayed with her before, and gets on fine with Rufus, so we're lucky he can stay there and we don't have to worry about him. She even lets him sleep on the bed!

We're all organised. I think. This time tomorrow we'll be ensconced on our (fairly) luxurious ship, perhaps having a cocktail before dinner. I even have a suitably smart top for the special dinner in a chateau, much to JR's relief. NOT that you have to dress up particularly on this cruise, but one has to have standards...

Here's Archie setting off on his holiday, with his big holiday bag. We leave early tomorrow, so it's best he goes tonight. He'll have a great time, and he's promised to What'sApp us every day.

What a shame - we're going to miss out on all the election hoo-ha. But we'll be back in time to vote!
