What struck my fancy

The Priory

at Castle Acre (Norfolk UK), founded during the latter part of the 11th century, and largely destroyed in 1537 during the Dissolution of the Monasteries at the order of Henry VIII.

The monasteries had grown too powerful and rich, by selling indulgences - a fast track ticket into Heaven, and benefitting from legacies of the rich; all with the intention of avoiding awkward questions on Judgement Day.
