Public holiday today but I had to go into the office in the afternoon to sort a few things out before the working week starts. Driving home past Embassy Row on Massachusetts Avenue I stopped to take this photo of the statue of Winston Churchill. It is positioned so that he has one foot on US soil and the other in the British Embassy grounds - a symbol of Churchill's own Anglo-American descent, as well as of the alliance he did so much to forge.
