Wild bracket fungi thriving on the remains of a dead plum tree. This is the tree trunk in our garden which provides support for several bird feeders during the cold winter months.

Rainbow Bracket Fungi
is common on dead wood in forests and urban gardens
it has distinct brown and white zones on the upper surface
its lower surface contains thousands of pores, the ends of tubes which spores are produced and released into the air.
