Tiny hatchlings!

My last day in charge of these little things! Thankfully only one died on my watch . . .  For the last week I have been looking after next door's menagerie, comprising four laying hens, one cockerel, one broody hen sitting on eggs, one male ferret, one pregnant ferret, and these little chicks under a heat lamp. They are tiny - you can easily fit two on your hand!

The owners came home today and apparently the ferret had given birth to five babies at some point, but I never realised.  I had decided not to disturb her and leave her to it, which seems to have worked, thank goodness!
