On The Road Again

A very good drive down to Christchurch today with not too much traffic.  We stopped at the car park/trail head for the St James Walkway for our picnic lunch.  This lovely little tarn had almost perfect reflections.  The notice board said we were at 810 mts altitude and 98 Kms from the Tasman Sea and 105 Km from the Pacific Ocean.  This is the Lewis Pass and is one of three road passes that cross the Southern Alps.
The 1st extra shows the alps with a touch of snow, the beech trees and tussock grasses. 2nd me because I can, 3rd one of the frequent stops for road works.  Since the Kaikoura earthquake this is the main highway to Christchurch and needs constant maintaining.
