In this case, it had to. There was never going to be a scenario where the accusations in The Sun newspaper towards the Liverpool fans would be taken as read, especially by those living anywhere near Anfield (or Goodison for that matter).

Never ever ever touch this newspaper.

Indeed, after the news story picking up again it is being reported that over 100 eye witness accounts were altered to save face for The Police, to save them from jail.

Up until now that is, for it is possible that that jail is coming. Some people formerly of South Yorkshire Police are going to feel like they are walking alone.
