WW2 aeroplane wooden sculpture

On 7 Oct 1940 a Hawker Hurricane was shot down in Joydens Wood , Bexley, Kent. This wooden replica of the plane is sited in a clearing in the woods. My extra is of the commerative plaque.

Although we are only 15 minutes drive away, it is the first time we have been to Joydens Wood and were surprised at the size and beauty of these ancient woodlands now owned and managed by the Woodlands Trust.

We walked for a few hours with friends who live nearby and had a picnic by the aeroplane.
