A choice of two!

At the moment there are lots of eider ducks in the bay, and there always seem to be a few hanging about at the bottom of our slip.  There aren't many ducklings left, the black backed gulls and the great skuas, locally known as bonxies, have had most of them.  Sad to see several females with only one chick left between them. Still, this lucky lady seems to be having a better time of it!

Spent most of the day hacking back grass and weeds at the top of the shore.  It is real mess, knee-deep grass which nobody does anything about, so the docks, dandelions etc just spread.  Got in amongst it with my shears and was really pleased with the result.  Lovely just sitting there, with Ollie, in the sunshine, listening to the eiders and the terns, and watching a blackbird following where I'd been, pecking about in the short grass.
