What do they say about best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry. Last night I planned to go out and about with my camera this morning and take lots of photos but before I set off I decided to clean out the fire only to find the cast iron base was broken in half. It was impossible to find a forgery or anywhere that sold a replacement so I set off for the famous antique market where I live as last week I had seen a dog grate for sale and now we have a new style of fire and possibly a hotter one. My guess is that the fire knows I am thinking of converting to gas despite my love of the real fire it sometimes gets too much to clean out and move logs. It can snow now!
