musician on way home - he was part of the UW Chamber Orchestra joined by the Chamber Singers and professional soloists for Verdi's Defiant Requiem, accompanied by video outtakes from survivors of Terezin Concentration Camp - where Prisoner Ravael Schachter (1905-1945) organized and led prisoners in regular performances and practice of the Requiem.  It was a way of speaking out the truth in the only way they could as concentration camp prisoners.  This piece and the courage it evokes, nothing but inspiring snd heartwarming and of course still so needed and relevant.

These lines in the program struck me hard "the universal message that the human spirit can be elevated in the most oppressive conditions, that hope and resilience are indomitable, that mankind can rise above bondage and horror."
