Rose sawfly

We have a lovely New Dawn rose growing around our front door. Each year, more or less without fail, it gets attacked by sawfly larvae. Tonight on the way in, I spotted several of the adults on the stems of the rose. I think they are females laying eggs in the cut they've just made with their little saws. May have to investigate some kind of spray to save the rose leaves this year.
