The ICE-SAR rescue teams number about 100, within which there are thousands of people who are always available when needed. The professionalism that characterizes the work of Icelandic rescue teams has brought worldwide attention.

Our team's name here in Seltjarnarnes, Iceland, is Albert, named after a lighthouse keeper at Grótta and this is the place they keep their boats - run them out of the doors and down the ramp - and on the other side are similar doors where they keep their big trucks.

The Icelandic ICE-SAR rescue teams were the first to go to Haiti after the big earthquake - and that is quite a way to travel...
