Playing with Light

West Mill...

....hard at it again today and the Blip machine remained bag bound, but as my working day was drawing to its end; the shadows lengthened and light became tinged with gold, so I though "lets take a trip down the High Street on the way home, there's bound to be something bathed in light"......and there it was....the old West Mill....
Bridport is only a little place but is steeped in history. It was listed as having a Mint, very close to a thousand years ago, in the Doomesday book! As a town, it has a fine industrial heritage, producing, amongst other things, the Hangmans noose, known, maybe not affectionately, as the Bridport Dagger. This building, situated on one of the main streets through town, is a late 19th century flour mill on the site of a 15th century hemp boiling mill. It's a beautiful building, often passed without so much as a glance, but it's an extraordinary structure to have at the start of a parade of shops......
