Credit Where It's Due

emhowl's entry of Alice making wholefood bars inspired by a commercial product stirred a memory.

When writing in my recipe book I do as my mother did, which is to note the origin next to the title. This spattered page shows two entries; the first I 'invented' for the baking stall at our Primary School summer fair in 1983 - it's just a ginger biscuit, really, with extra spices.

The second is my copy of a traybake that Breadwinner (a wholefood bakers) used to sell, hence the 'sort of' next to the title. I don't suppose they went out of business because I was making my own!

Of course, these were just made by trial-and-error, not the mathematical analysis that Alice used for her recipe.
