The Naughty Step

It's been an exhausting day. Up early after a whole night waking every half hour with a start, panicking that we'd all overslept, TallGirl had missed her exam and would therefore spiral downwards into a life of drugs and crime (that seemed particularly likely at the 3.30am waking and required two episodes of More or Less to calm me down.)

Obviously, she did not miss her exam, though there was a technical hitch that was only partly down to the school's incompetence (when TallGirl asked her teacher if she needed to bring her own HDMI cable for the projector for her PowerPoint presentation he practically died laughing). I'm leaving TallGirl to decide whether she relays her part in the debacle to Mr B (here's hoping he's still not reading blip....)

Anyway, she came out happy - and I think it was more than the demob happiness of the recently stressed.

Meanwhile, Joey was under the knife. He came out of it fine and is currently bouncing around his enclosure quite happily. Earlier, while bouncing around with Piper there was the usual chasing and sniffing - and then he stopped, as though he knew there was something that comes next, but he couldn't quite remember what. The vet says they're fine together now - but I think we'll hang on a few days in case there are any swimmers in lanes (or substitute your own euphemism).

In other news some jigsawing (I'm sure I don't need to tell you which type), chimney sizing and wood searching.

Later, lots of work for Mr B, with a slightly wistful 'here's what you could have won' edge to it. But a late evening garden wander has everything set to rights again. Which brings me to this gaura. Its parent has been swamped by rampant lavender, so I should be grateful that this self-seeded offspring has found a happy place - but does it have to be on the path? Bonny flowers though.

After dinner, some unwise furniture moving heralded the start of CarbBoy's room makeover. Now I'd best find the Gaviscon...
