This is in the City of York. Why are we here?

Well, tomorrow we have an annual reunion lunch at the University here.
The date for that lunch was fixed long before an election was called. Normally we would have made the 3 hour drive from Cumbria tomorrow morning.

However, all our lives we have stayed up all night watching election results. That would not have left us in a good state for driving to York after breakfast.

So the solution was to travel to York today and we are watching the fascinating outcome through the night in our hotel room. Tomorrow we can walk to the lunch and later recover with a second night in the hotel.
