East Devon Area of Outstanding Beauty

We got up at about 5:45 am today, opened up the village hall which is just across the road (as it is a polling station) ate our breakfast, returned to the hall to vote, then drove down to Devon. We arrived just gone mid-day after an excellent journey.
We had a drive round this afternoon (the royal "we" - I drove as C is still awaiting his catact op) and it was all typical Devon country roads - single track. We kept glimpsing  glorious views over the hedges, but there was never anywhere to stop - then we found a gateway that did nicely (and big enough for two cars to still pass each other even though we had parked).
This is the area just north of Colyton, to the west of Lyme Regis. The light was wonderful for a very few minutes. I have looked at the map for the name of the valley, and all I can find is "East Devon Area of Outstanding Beauty".
Following this we took RockArea's advice and went into Lyme Regis for fish and chips in Coombe Street. And he was not wrong. They were indeed excellent - especially now I have my feet up and a glass of cold Pinot Grigio.
This blip is made up of three images merged into a panorama using Lightroom. Please look in Large - it's much better.
