Cooking, Biking and Rafting

After breakfast on the roof of the hostel with the most amazing view we headed off to our first activity; a cooking class. We starred at the market, a large hall filled with the squawks of chicken and the thuds of cleavers hitting the bamboo chopping blocks. In addition to your standard chicken, beef, pig’s ears, cats and dogs you could also get sea food such as fish, eel, frogs and snails at the market. Next we moved on to the fruit and veggie market. The colors were so vibrant. You get use to seeing a standard shape and size to fruits and veggies in the store but there was none of that here. After picking up what we needed we made our way over to the restaurant for the class. Note to self, I need to buy a wok and cleaver when I get home.

The cooking class was great. We learned how to make Gong Bao Chicken, Steam Dumplings with Pork (I was very proud of my dumplings) and Braised Eggplant with Garlic and Chili paste. So much food! We where all very pleased with the results.

After that delicious lunch we had another member join our tour group before we went off for a bike ride and then rafting down the Yulong River.
When we went for after diner drinks a group of students studying Business English invited us to a party they were hosting tomorrow night so that is tomorrow night planed!
