Primula vialii

Today's the day ....................... to clash

I mean - look at it - only Mother Nature would think about putting these two colours together in the same flower.  But it works, doesn't it?

Primula vialii  is not a shrinking violet of the plant world.  It's a right out there, in your face primrose that wants to be noticed and demands to be treated as a bit of a prima donna.  It's perfect for growing in a partially shaded or woodland border, especially in poorly drained soil. It works well when planted among ferns and hostas where it can really make an impact.  It was Plant of the Year  at the Chelsea Flower Show in (I think) 2006 when my good friend Roma and I were there - and it hasn't looked back since then.

If you haven't already indulged - get yourself one now ......................
