Sid's Cafe

It was torrential rain this morning and my man couldn't come to start on my garden, which was disappointing, but we'll set another date.

Carole phoned to see what the plan was for today and after a little think I decided that it was time to tick another thing off my Fifty Things For Fifty  list....drink a cup of tea in Sid's Cafe in Holmfirth.

Pat, Carole and I crossed over to the Dark Side as we whizzed over the tops to Holmfirth, Last of The Summer Wine country. The rain stopped, it was warm and we had all afternoon. First stop had to be the cuppa....that's another tick and I'm a happy bunny!

When we came out of the cafe there was a sign for a Last of the Summer Wine tour on a vintage bus...well it would have been rude not to. It was great. It is so beautiful round there and we went past all the places from the programme. The bushes that Howard and Marina would creep out of, the slopes that Compo, Cleggy and Foggy had their escapades on, Nora Batty's steps....oh the list went on. There was also the house that Roy Castle lived in as a child. It was all so fitting to do this a few days after the wonderful Peter Sallis died.

We bought fish and chips to eat on a bench in the town before having a mooch in a few shops. Rain was threatening so we decided to head home, but we did stop off at The Huntsman Inn for a drink on the way past. The Huntsman is where we hold a blood donor session so it was great to actually go that bit further on down into the town today.

Oh it was a mighty fine day today.
