San Giorgio - Lenno

Normal service has been resumed on the weather front. We took the bus over to Cernobbio, this is almost a suburb of Como. we have had lunch here a couple of times, and stopped here on the way to the airport, but we had never actually had a stroll around the town away from the ferry terminal. Cernobbio is home to a couple of the famous villas of the Lake, including the Villa d’Este, one of the top hotels in Italy. The hotel was not on our itinerary today.

We returned to Lenno by ferry so as to enjoy the weather and the views along the Lake. On arrival in Lenno we decided to make a visit to the Hotel San Giorgio for a pre dinner aperitivo. The hotel is close to the Lenno ferry stop, just a minute walk away, but the hotel does not count as being in Lenno as it is just outside the border of the Commune. It is Lenno’s largest hotel and has a nice garden overlooking the lake. The ferry terminal is just out of site around the corner to the right of the photograph.

We had a Bellini (which I am told was the best in Lenno by my informant) and I had a glass of wine. We lingered for a while enjoying the scenery before returning to the apartment for the evening. This was the first time we have partaken of the hospitality of the San Giorgio, but I think we will be returning.
