Visit to Gdansk ship yard

During our stay in Gdansk we went on a 'Solidarity tour' looking at the city's history under communism after 1945. The tour guide took us to the Gdansk shipyard, a very sad place where workers were killed in 1970s by the government for seeking to gain legal status for their Solidarity union. Some justice came in 1980 when the union movement gained momentum and with the help of Pope John Paul II (and Margaret Thatcher we were told!) they managed to gain recognition and a number of their demands were met. The tour guide told us about a drink she remembered from her childhood in the 1970s and we could try it at the museum so here it is. It tasted a bit like panda pop and wasn't bad at all!
