I do not understand much modern art and certainly can’t understand how this is an entry for the Edinburgh Degree Art show.  Part of a broken rusty car lies among old suitcases surrounded by sprouting potatoes and turnips and nearby there were three broken pianos with a toy cat hiding beneath one.   I think there must be a lot of “modern art’’ masquerading as rubbish lying on some derelict urban sites!  I found the “Monolith” more interesting.(Extra)  It is symbolic of the recently A listed building Cables Wynd House built in the 1960s and famous for being in the Trainspotting film and the artist wrote an accompanying booklet showing how behind its “concrete monstrosity” façade it can become a home.
The significance of these as degree awarding art escapes me as did many others although there were some very imaginative and cleverly made drama costumes and the architectural models showed much thought, skill and clever design.
